Cork boy found dead named

Gardaí say they're treating the death of an eight-year-old boy at his north Cork home as a "tragic incident".

The body of Anthony Ward was found by emergency services when they were called to the bungalow in Charleville this morning.

He was due to have returned to school today to start 2nd class.

His mother Diane was in the house, and has been taken to hospital for treatment after being found in what was described as a 'distressed' state.

The house on Harrison Place remains sealed off and a post mortem to establish how Anthony died is due to be carried out later.
