Sinn Féin is slamming the Government for cutting Dublin City Council's budget.

The party has announced that it will stage a series of demonstrations outside the council's monthly meetings in protest against the cuts.

Dublin City Council's budget has faced massive cuts since 2011 which the Minister for Environment Phil Hogan argues is a result of non-compliance with the Household Charge.

Minister Hogan confirmed last month that local services such as libraries and street lighting would be cut if people did not pay the €100 tax.

The party will hold its first demonstration outside City Hall this evening.
