Liquidators outline Target Express staff entitlements
The provisional liquidators appointed to the Target Express haulage firm say they don't envisage any problems with providing the company's former employees with their statutory entitlements.
Representatives from Grant Thornton have been meeting with staff at the company's depots this morning after they were appointed provisional liquidators overnight.
Sit-ins are taking place at plants in Carlow, Cork and Wexford where workers say they're owed back wages as well as statutory redundancy.
Grant Thornton liquidator Gearóid Costigan met with employees at Little Island in Cork and has outlined what Target Express staff are entitled to: "Ultimately it is up to the insolvency firm and Department of Social Protection to process the claims but based on our experience, all of the employees have a statutory right and we would see no reason why…"
"I don't wish to get into individual cases but obviously people are entitled to redundancy, notice pay and any arrears of holiday pay. Their statutory entitlements…we are processing currently."
