Man escapes from custody near Limerick Prison

Gardaí are searching for a man who escaped from custody last night.

The incident happened at around 7.15pm yesterday evening when the 25-year-old man was being brought into Limerick Prison.

He had earlier appeared at Tralee District Court on a car theft charge.

Another man, a 23 year old co-accused, who also tried to escape at the same time, was apprehended by gardaí a short time later, near the prison.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
