A man has been arrested today for questioning about a murder in the North 36 years ago.

A man has been arrested today for questioning about a murder in the North 36 years ago.

He was detained in south Belfast, not far from Derriaghy where William Palmer, 50, was shot at his Milltown Road home in June 1976. He died three days later in hospital.

The man, aged 55, was detained on suspicion of murder, possessing a firearm and membership of the IRA.

He was taken to the serious crime suite at Antrim police station for questioning.
