Gardaí are today appealing to the public for help in identifying the body of a man in Co Galway.

Gardaí are today appealing to the public for help in identifying the body of a man in Co Galway.

The body was discovered by a member of the public just before 3pm on Thursday on a beach near Lettermullen.

It is believed the body may have been in the water for a numbers of days.

The man is described as being 6 foot 2 inches, medium to strong build. He was wearing a Ralph Lauren dark blue and white check shirt, blue jeans, Nike grey and blue runners and grey/black socks.

The body was removed to the University Hospital Galway where a post mortem will take place.
