Court remands teenager over Galway assault
A man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court in Galway earlier today in connection with the serious assault of a man at the weekend.
The incident happened in Tuam in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The man who appeared in court is 18-year-old Shane Byrne of no fixed address.
The teenager was charged with assaulting 22-year-old Shane Grogan at Fairgreen, Tuam in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He was charged with assault causing harm and remanded in custody to appear again before Harristown Court on Friday
Shane Grogan, who was seriously injured in the assault has undergone surgery in Beaumount Hospital, Dublin.
He is son of Joseph and Joan Grogan of Shop Street, in Tuam who are well known business people in the town.
