The funeral of an Irishman who died while trying to swim the English Channel last weekend gets underway at 11am this morning.
Paraic Casey of Passage West in Cork suffered a heart attack just 90 minutes from reaching the end of the 34 kilometre swim.
He undertook the swim to raise funds for St Vincent de Paul and Marymount H ospice.
Ned Denison swam with Paraic with the Sandycove Island Swimming Club: "He put his heart and mind to it and in the last 12 months he swam more than two million metres in preparation.
"He was a fit man, he was in a great mental state and had the appropriate amount of confidence."
