FG's Healy Eames to appeal train ticket fine
Fine Gael Senator Fidelma Healy Eames has said she will appeal an on-the-spot fine which she received for boarding a train without a ticket.
It emerged yesterday evening that Senator Healy Eames received a €100 penalty on Thursday after she boarded the train from Galway to Dublin without first purchasing a ticket.
In a subsequent statement the Senator said she had thought she could purchase the ticket on the train, as she had previously done on recent occasions.
Iarnród Éireann said "tickets can only be purchased on the train if the ticket office is closed and if the ticket vending machines are not in operation."
Senator Healy Eames said she plans to appeal the fine.
