A 35-year-old man has appeared before Carlow District Court today, charged in connection with the robbery of an 86-year-old woman in Kilkenny earlier this week.

A 35-year-old man has appeared before Carlow District Court today, charged in connection with the robbery of an 86-year-old woman in Kilkenny earlier this week.

Mariusz Chelstowski, of no fixed abode, is accused of robbing Mary Nolan of her purse on Walkin Street in the city on Monday.

He was remanded to Cloverhill Prison and will appear before Kilkenny District Court on July 17.

Mrs Nolan is still being treated at St. Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny, where her condition is described as serious but stable.
