Passengers escape motorway bus blaze
Eleven passengers were safely evacuated from a Bus Éireann coach this morning after it caught fire on the M1 motorway.
A Bus Éireann spokeperson said the driver of the 6.40am Dublin to Dundalk service pulled over approximately half a mile south of the M1 toll plaza after he noticed smoke coming from the vehicle.
The passengers were ushered off the bus and walked to the toll plaza, while two fire engines were quickly on the scene to extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were sustained and the passengers continued their journey to Dundalk on a replacement coach.
Bus Éireann said it was too early to say what had caused the blaze, but a full investigation was underway.
