A 47-year-old man has been charged with criminal damage to a Monet painting in the National Gallery of Ireland.

Andrew Shannon of Willans' Way, Clonsilla is alleged to have put a large hole in the 1874 artwork, Argenteuil Basin with a Single Sailboat, late last Friday morning.
