Man critically ill after fall on ferry off Aran Islands
A man has been airlifted to hospital after he was seriously injured in a fall on board a passenger ferry off the Aran Islands this morning.
The incident happened at around 11.30am. The man, believed to have been working on the vessel, suffered a serious head injury.
The ferry docked at Kilronan Pier on Inis Mór and the man was seen by a local doctor.
The new Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter was sent to airlift the man to hospital in Galway.
He is reported to be in a critical condition.
