Dublin school wins award for promoting knowledge of EU

A primary school in Dublin has been given a national award for its work on Europe.

Minister for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton, gave pupils at the Star of the Sea Primary School in Sandymount their Blue Star award this morning.

It is part of a new EU awareness Programme that aims to build better understanding and knowledge of the European Union, and how it affects the lives of Irish primary pupils and their communities.

The Minister said it is important that the country cultivates an interest in and understanding of European history, culture and the EU institutions amongst the Irish people.
