IFA urges Govt to secure 50% advance on EU payment

The Irish Farmers Association has said the recent bad weather is causing major problems for farmers, with two thirds of silage crop yet to be harvested.

There has been an unusually large amount of rainfall over the last few weeks, more than double the norm for this time of year.

The poor conditions are driving up the cost of doing business for farmers and they are calling on the Government to secure a 50% advance on the Single Farm Payment from the EU for them.
