Young boy injured by explosive loses some fingers
A little boy who picked up an explosive device outside his house in Co Wicklow this morning has lost a number of his fingers as a result of the incident.
The device had been left outside the child's house at Sycamore Drive in Newtownmountkennedy when he picked it up at around 8am this morning.
Experts are trying to establish whether the device was a pipe-bomb.
Gardaí are asking anyone who was in the Sycamore Drive area of Newtownmountkennedy between 9pm last night and 8am this morning to contact them.
Gardaí are also asking anyone in the Newtownmountkennedy area who may have noticed any unusual or suspicious activity overnight or in the last number of weeks to contact them at Bray garda station on 01 666 5300.
