A man has been taken to hospital after a fire at an apartment in Dundalk, Co Louth.

A man has been taken to hospital after a fire at an apartment in Dundalk, Co Louth.

All 60 of the apartments in the Carroll Village complex had to be evacuated after the fire broke out shortly before midnight.

Three fire engines from Dundalk fire brigade attended the scene and the blaze was brought under control early this morning.

The fire started in a second storey apartment, while a number of other units suffered smoke damage.

One man was rescued by the fire crew. He has been taken to hospital where his condition is described as non-life threatening.
