Two Mayo brothers have appeared before a sitting of the Special Criminal Court this evening charged with explosives and IRA membership offences.

Two Mayo brothers have appeared before a sitting of the Special Criminal Court this evening charged with explosives and IRA membership offences.

Thirty-one-year-old Colin Mannion and his 29-year-old brother Brian of Burriscarra, Clogher, in Claremorris, are both charged with membership of an unlawful organisation.

They are also charged with the unlawful possession of explosive substances, detonators and electrical components at their home on June 9.

Neither of the two men applied for bail, Mr Justice Paul Butler, remanded them in custody with liberty to apply for bail.

They are due to appear before the Special Criminal Court again on Friday.
