Marathon runners taking to streets of Cork and Dublin
The Cork City Marathon is underway, with Dublin's Flora Women's Mini-Marathon set to kick off at 3pm.
Motorists are being advised to avoid Dublin city centre due to a number of road closures. Cork city centre is also be affected by road closures.
The Dublin race begins at Fitzwilliam Square and finishes up at St Stephen's Green, while the Cork City Marathon begins and ends on Patrick's St.
About 8,000 runners are taking part in the Cork race, with about 2,000 signup tup to complete the full marathon. The same number have opted for the half-marathon, with the remainder - about 4,000 people - taking part in the five-member relay.
In Dublin, a total of 40,395 runners are taking part in the mini-marathon.
