Murder probe underway after death of woman in Kilkenny

A murder investigation has been launched in Co Killkenny, following the death of a 51-year-old woman.

Siobhán Stapelton was found with serious injuries in the yard of her family home, Glebe Lodge in Kilfane near Thomastown just before 2pm on Friday.

She was rushed by ambulance to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny, but died from her injuries while being transferred from there to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Following the post mortem results, gardaí launched a murder investigation.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
