Murder probe underway after death of woman in Kilkenny
Gardaí have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a woman in Kilkenny yesterday.
Siobhán Stapleton, aged 51, from Glebe Lodge near Thomastown, was found yesterday with serious injuries.
She was later pronounced dead as a result of her injuries while being transferred to Beaumont Hospital.
A post mortem examination was carried out at Waterford Regional Hospital earlier.
Following the results of the post mortem, gardaí have upgraded the investigation to murder.
The scene of the murder, Glebe Lodge, Kilfane, is on the old Thomastown to Dublin road around 1.5 miles outside Thomastown.
An incident room has been set up in Thomastown and gardaí are appealling for anyone who may have seen anything of a suspicious nature or unusual behaviour in and around Glebe Lodge between 1pm and 1.45pm yesterday to contact gardaí in Thomastown on 056 7754150, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
