Woman found dead in Kilkenny named

An investigation is continuing in Co Killkenny into the death of a 51-year-old woman who has been named as Siobhan Stapleton.

Ms Stapleton was found with serious head injuries in the yard of her family home, in Kilfane near Thomastown yesterday afternoon.

She was rushed by ambulance to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny, but died from her injuries before she could be transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

A post mortem is being carried out on her body this afternoon, to establish the cause of her death.

Gardaí are awaiting the results of the post mortem before deciding what direction the investigation will take.
