Post mortem today on woman's body found in Kilkenny

Gardaí say they are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Co Kilkenny.

The 51-year-old woman died after she was found seriously injured in the yard of the family home near Thomastown in Co Killkenny.

The alarm was raised at around 3pm yesterday.

The woman was rushed by ambulance to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny, but died from her injuries before she could be transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

A post mortem is to be carried out on her body later today, to establish the cause of her death.

Gardaí say they are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding her death, but will await the post mortem results before deciding the next course of action.
