Woman dies in house fire

An 84 year old woman has died in a house fire in Monaghan.

She was the only person in the premises at Doohamlet, when the blaze broke out shortly before 4.30 this afternoon.

Gardaí said that they are not treating the incident as suspicious - and the possibility of a gas explosion is being examined.
