Noonan: Stop the harassment and bullying of the Taoiseach

The Finance Minister has said that the only harassment and bullying he has seen in the referendum campaign was from the NO side towards the Taoiseach.

In the Dáil earlier, Michael Noonan was accused by Socialist TD Joe Higgins of supporting economists and agencies who say we must vote no or face isolation.

Minister Noonan says the behaviour of those in the NO campaign has been wrong:

"The only harassment and bullying I have seen for the last couple of weeks is supporters of the NO campaign harassing and bullying the Taoiseach as he campaigns through the country", he said.

"They tried to prevent him from talking to ordinary decent citizens and explaining the situation to them and you should exercise some influence if you have it over your supporters and stop the harassment of the Taoiseach, respect the dignity of his office don't go for street politics."
