In the North, a woman and a young child have escaped injury in an arson attack at Ballymoney in County Antrim.

Police say an object was thrown through a window of a house at Hamilton Park at 4.30am this morning, causing a fire.

It is not yet known why the house was targeted.

The woman and child escaped from a neighbouring house when the blaze broke out.

Several homes were evacuated in the area as emergency services extinguished the fire.
