Two killed in Mayo traffic accident

Gardaí in Ballina are appealing for witnesses following a double fatal road traffic collision on the Killala to Ballycastle Rd, Mayo on the 18th May 2012.

Gardaí in Ballina are today appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic accident.

The collision involving a motorcycle and a car occurred at approx 12.20pm on the Ballycastle to Killala road close to Lacken.

A male and female were pronounced dead at the scene. They are believed to be the driver and pillion passenger of the motorcycle.

The car driver, the sole occupant of that vehicle, has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Forensic collision investigators are in attendance, the road is closed and traffic diversions are in place.
