Medical devices firm announces 200 Galway jobs
A leading medical devices firm is to create 200 jobs at its Irish-based centre of excellence, it was confirmed today.
Merit Medical Systems, which makes products for use in cardiology, radiology and endoscopy, is to take on the new staff at its ā¬20m facility in Parkmore business park in Galway.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny made the announcement which will allow Merit to expand its research and development, and doubles its capacity in the region.
āIt is also a significant endorsement of Ireland as a location for investment and highlights the importance of economic stability,ā he said.
The new staff, a third of whom will be third level graduates, will be taken on over the next five years.
Merit designs, develops, manufactures and markets medical devices around the world used in interventional and diagnostic procedures.
The companyās Galway facility was established in 1996 and employs 379 people.
