Major search operation for man in River Liffey

A major search operation is underway in Dublin city centre this evening after a man went into the River Liffey.

Five units of Dublin Fire brigade, two ambulances and an inflatable rib are at the scene, while divers are combing the river near Capel Street Bridge.

The bridge has been sealed off and heavy traffic has accumulated on both sides of the quays.
