Taoiseach hits back at SF plan to challenge legality of referendum website

The Taoiseach has hit out at Sinn Féin over the party's decision to challenge a government website on the EU Fiscal Treaty referendum.

Sinn Féin claims the website stabilitytreaty.ie is in breach of legal rules which prevent public money being spent on promoting only one side of a referendum campaign.

The website features speeches from the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and Minister for European Affairs, all promoting a yes vote.

In the Dáil, the Taoiseach hit out at Sinn Féin for launching a legal challenge to the website, which he said was set up to provide public information.

"I find it incongruous that you would seek to take action in regard to the State giving people information about what is in this Treaty and what it actually means," he said.
