Waterford death: Man was found with head injuries
Gardaí are continuing to question two people after the discovery of a man's body in Waterford city last night.
The body remains at the scene this morning, awaiting the arrival of the State Pathologist and the garda technical team. Two gardaí are stationed outside the cordoned-off scene.
At 9.50pm last night, a 999 call was made to Waterford garda station to say an incident had occurred at an apartment on Scotch Marsh Quay.
Gardaí and ambulance arrived and found a 60-year-old man, with head injuries, who was unresponsive.
CPR was carried out, and a doctor called, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A number of inquiries were then made by gardaí at the scene, as a result of which two people - a 47-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman - were arrested.
They are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Waterford city garda station, where they can be held for 24 hours from the time of their arrest.
