The High Court has approved an examinership scheme to save Dublin foodhall and restaurant Fallon and Byrne, which employs 160 people.

An examiner was appointed to the insolvent gourmet store on Exchequer Street to sort out debts of €1.4m which arose from tax irregularities.

Mr Justice Brian McGovern said he was satisfied the scheme, which will see €1m of investment, was supported by almost everybody except an unsecured creditor.

He said the company's insolvency was unconnected with its trading history.
