Death occurs of seventh Buncrana nursing home resident diagnosed with flu

The HSE has confirmed that another resident of a private nursing home in Buncrana, Co Donegal has died.

The patient - who had been diagnosed as having flu - passed away at Letterkenny General Hospital today.

Six other residents of Nazareth House nursing home have died from flu in recent weeks. Influenza A was responsible for the deaths of the three women and three men, all aged in their 80s and 90s.

In a statement, the Health Service Executive said the conditions of seven additional patients were being monitored closely and that there had been no new cases since April 4.

All residents in the nursing home are receiving either active or preventative treatment.
