Taoiseach 'heartened' as less than 750k register for charge

A total of 735,334 properties have now been registered for the Household Charge, according to the latest figures taken in the last hour.

This includes new rough tallies from local authorities of almost 60,000 registrations on hand in offices around the country.

The Taoiseach has said he is "heartened" by these numbers, but just under a million households have yet to pay the €100 before a deadline of midnight tonight.
