Reports of fake Household Charge collectors in Wicklow

Wicklow County Council is the latest local authority warning homeowners not to hand over money to people posing as council staff collecting the Household Charge.

The warning comes following reports that people have been calling door-to-door in the Ashford area.

Similar incidents have been reported in the Meath and Laois areas in recent days.

Wicklow County Council said that it does not have any staff or agents collecting the €100 charge on its behalf, and is warning people who are approached not to hand over any monies, and to contact gardaí immediately.
