Daffodil Day taking place today
The Irish Cancer Society is hoping to raise over €3m in its annual Daffodil Day collection taking place today.
It is the 25th year of the event and 5,000 volunteers will take to the streets selling fresh and silk daffodils as well as commemorative pins.
CEO of the Irish Cancer Society John McCormack said one in three of us will get some sort of cancer in our lifetimes.
"Ireland has a very high rate of cancer," Mr McCormack said.
"This year 30,000 people here will get cancer and in the next eight years that figure will rise to over 40,000 people.
"More and more people are living with cancer, and the Irish Cancer Society is helping more and more people who are going through a cancer journey."
