Clare Labour Party TD Michael McNamara has today been suspended from the Dáil.

Clare Labour Party TD Michael McNamara has today been suspended from the Dáil.

Deputy McNamara had tried to raise what he said was the misleading of the Dáil by Health Minister Dr James Reilly because he said the HSE were "running rings around him".

After being told by the Ceann Comhairle to resume his seat, he did not, and he was then formally suspended in a vote by 83 to 36.

Deputy McNamara's Labour Party colleagues voted in favour of his removal, with Opposition TDs voting against the measure.

He will have three days' wages deducted as a result of the measure.
