Barry Doyle has today been convicted of the murder of Limerick rugby player Shane Geoghegan.

The 26-year-old from Portland Row, Dublin, smiled as the jury returned its verdict at the Central Criminal Court after nearly six hours deliberations.

He will now face life in prison for gunning down the Garryowen captain on November 9, 2008 at Clonmore, Kilteragh, Dooradoyle.
