Gardaí patrol Tallaght after teenager's shooting
Gardaí were on patrol in Tallaght overnight after the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl.
Melanie McCarthy McNamara was shot in the head as she sat in a parked car with three friends on Brookview Way, in Jobstown on Tuesday night.
She was rushed to hospital, but died of her injuries.
Gardaí believe that Ms McCarthy McNamara was not the intended target of Tuesday's attack.
Experts have been carrying out a forensic examination of the SUV found later near Citywest, which they believe may have been used in the incident.
It is also reported that tests are to be carried out on a shotgun recovered by detectives investigating the murder.
Meanwhile, Melanie's friends and family have been paying tribute to the teenager, who was due to celebrate her 17th birthday in just two weeks' time.
