Polish Ambassador: Polish believe Ireland is 'a dynamic country'
The Polish Ambassador to Ireland, Marcin Nawrot, has said the Polish community in Ireland can be more optimistic about the country's prospects than Irish people.
Mr Nawrot yesterday hit out at a newspaper article which suggested a Polish woman was living "the good life" on the dole in Co. Donegal, saying the original article had been translated incorrectly.
Up to 180,000 Polish people are living in Ireland at the moment.
Ambassador Navrot believes that despite the economic downturn, they believe it is a good place to be.
Mr Navrot said: "They are more optimistic about the future of Ireland than Irish people. That is my impression.
"They find Ireland as a dynamic country, despite the present difficult times. This is a dynamic country, an open one, and for many of them this is the land of opportunity."
