Man assaulted in Kilkenny city

A man is being treated in hospital for head injuries he sustained during an overnight assault in Co Kilkenny.

The assault happened in the early hours of this morning, on Michael Street in Kilkenny city.

The man was brought to St Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny.

Gardaí have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the incident. He is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Kilkenny garda station.
