Man charged with O'Meara murder

A man in his 40s has today been charged with the murder of Stephen O'Meara.

A man in his 40s has today been charged with the murder of Stephen O'Meara.

The 26-year-old father-of-three from Rosehill in Wicklow town was last seen on August 6, 2009.

His body was found five months later on Christmas Eve, in an isolated wooded area at Ballydonnell, Redcross.

This afternoon, Clement Byrne (aged 48), with an address in Ballintone, Greenane, Rathdrum in Wicklow, appeared at Bray District Court and was charged with his murder.

He was remanded in custody to appear again before Cloverhill District Court next Friday.
