Minor earthquake recorded in Donegal

An earthquake measuring 2.2 on the Richter scale has been recorded in north Donegal.

The tremors, which were not strong enough to cause structural damage, were felt in many areas from Letterkenny to Buncrana.

The British Geological Survey had confirmed its equipment in Buncrana recorded a magnitude 2.2 earthquake at 1.04am this morning.

The quake's measured depth was three kilometres.
