Council sets up helpline for households affected by water restrictions

Householders in West Limerick affected by ongoing water restrictions from last week's oil spill in the River Deel will be able to call a special helpline from today.

The number operated by Limerick County Council is 061-496493, and it will be open between 9.30am and 4.30pm.

More than 1,500 households in Askeaton, Foynes, Shanagolden, Ballysteen, Kilcornan and Creeves are being catered for by nine water tankers in various locations.

Limerick County Council's Director of Services, Paul Crowe, has reminded householders that water from tankers must be boiled.
