Man killed in Cork stabbing

A man in his 20s has been killed in a stabbing incident in Co Cork.

The man was found lying on a footpath by gardaí on routine patrol near the old library in Passage West at around midnight last night.

It is understood the deceased man was visiting a friend in Passage West yesterday.

The location where the man was found has now been preserved.

It is understood that he had been stabbed.

A Garda forensic team carried out a preliminary examination of the scene last night. Further tests will take place later today.

The services of the State Pathologist have also been requested.

A man in his 20s is helping gardaí with their inquiries at Togher Garda station.
