Identity of body found from sunken trawler to be confirmed

Divers searching for five missing fishermen off the coast of West Cork recovered a body during a search this morning.

The body of the Egyptian fisherman from the Tit Bonhomme was found by Garda divers at around 9.45am.

Four other fishermen are still missing coming into the fifth day of the search.

The men missing include the boat's skipper, 52-year-old Michael Hayes from Helvick Head, first-time crew member 21-year-old Kevin Kershaw from Clonakilty and three Egyptian fishermen - 35-year-old Wael Mohammed, his cousin, Said Mohammed aged 23 and Attea Shaban aged 26.

The body's identity has yet to be confirmed.

Divers are still waiting for weather conditions to improve to allow them get into the trawler near the mouth of Glandore Harbour.
