Red Cross members face grilling over €160k in undeclared account

The Public Accounts Committee will be grilling members of the Red Cross this morning to find out how €160,000 was found to be resting in an undeclared account three years after the funds were donated.

The donations were made by the Public in the wake of the Indian Ocean Tsunami on St Stephen's Day in 2004.

In 2008, the €160,000 was found to be in an undisclosed account controlled by the Tipperary Branch of the Irish Red Cross.

Vice Chairman of the Committee Kieran O'Donnell has said there are serious questions to answer.
