Gardaí appeal for information on fatal Drogheda road accident

Gardaí in Drogheda are appealing for witnesses, after a woman in her 70s was knocked down by a car and killed yesterday evening.

The woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a car on Scarlet Street in Drogheda at around 5.30pm.

She was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 60s, has also been taken to hospital, but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
