Gardaí probe raid on bookmaker's in Monaghan

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a bookmaker's premises was robbed in Co Monaghan last night.

Two masked men entered the premises on Main Street in Castleblayney shortly after 7pm.

One man was carrying a handgun and the other was armed with what appeared to be a baseball bat.

One man approached the counter and demanded money.

The men left with the contents of the till - an undisclosed amount of cash.

They made off in a blue car, thought to be a Nissan, heading in the direction of Monaghan town.

No injuries were sustained in the course of the raid.
