Oil to be transferred from damaged tanker
The process of removing 54,000 tonnes of oil from a damaged tanker off the coast of the North is beginning this morning.
After delays due to bad weather, the oil transfer from the Genmar Companion is expected to take between 24 and 36 hours.
Tugs are helping to bring it alongside the tanker BW Seine to offload the cargo.
The tanker has been sheltering at the mouth of Belfast Lough since developing a crack on its deck on December 16.
